In supported browsers, Outlook for Web features a chat window that integrates Teams into your Outlook mailbox:
Depending on your browser's configuration, this feature can disappear and reappear without a consistent cause. We've found a few settings that improve this consistency and should allow you to use the feature without interruption:
The following settings pages control your browser's ability to send notifications to your desktop. Paste the following URLs into Chrome to open the relevant settings menus.
For Outlook:
chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Foutlook.office.com%2F&search=site+settings
For Teams:
chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fteams.microsoft.com%2F&search=site+settings
In each of these pages, ensure that the Notifications permission is set to "Allow", then restart your browser.
Next, open the Start menu in the bottom left and type "notifications". This result should appear:
Open this settings menu and scroll until you find your browser of choice - in this instance, Chrome. Ensure that the notification settings for Chrome are enabled. You may need to restart your browser again for these changes to take effect.
After this, you should be able to open the Outlook Web App and see the chat feature in the top right hand corner of the window.
